_______________________________

I was born and raised in San Francisco CA, to Minnie Coats and Kermit Scott.

The moment I arrived home with my mother my grandfather Lewis Coats said George is his name” well that settled that it was official this new baby boy was named George C Scott. I never ask my grandfather why he wanted my name to be George, as I got older I knew there was a famous actor George C Scott, I just assumed that was the origin of his thoughts. In the late 1970s I saw the Olympics on TV, to my surprise there were several black men from Africa and Spain named Jorge I said well if I’m going to wear this name I think that’s the way it should be spelled, thus when I was old enough I changed my name legally again and have been Jorge C Scott every since. I want people to know the C in my middle name now stands for Cool, well ok it did not change legally yet but there’s still time.

I went to Golden Gate Elementary, Ben Franklin Middle, and Polytechnic High School.

I also went to City College of San Francisco played some sports got hurt and decided it was time to do music again so I made it through to get a diploma as a Paralegal. I took Arbitration courses on how to settle arguments which helped me to interview people as a paralegal. I was going to become a lawyer but after working for lawyers in the law office I said this is not for me. I kept deciding what I wanted to do but my thoughts kept going back to music. Still not satisfied at what I want to do, I took How to start a Corporation, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point receiving and completing certificates for them all. I would work and go to school I actually became a professional student at one time 2001-04 then I was in a car accident and got injured so I had the time. That accident was a real eye opening experience for me it made me think how short life really is, it could be over in a flash and for me to decide to go to school was another first since the only thing I liked about school when I was a kid was sports and recess. Later I became fascinated with computers I took and completed computer repair classes I, II, and III.  I took Cisco Systems and completed all the semesters graduating with a network diploma I can network a building with computers no matter how large the building is and how many computers it would need I have not purchased a desktop since 1990 as I learned to build them and that got real easy. I tell you outside of real estate Cisco was the hardest schooling I had ever faced. I always took music classes along the way and in addition I became a school bus driver at Laid Law Transit another eye opening experience I will always remember my fellow drivers, the dispatch people and the clickers which is another topic. I became a real estate investor and I started several businesses to along the way including the famous Superman Services 1988-1994 which some people still call me Superman, all while I kept singing and writing my own songs as of now I still invest in real estate. I took all those classes not knowing all of them could help me in music

I started singing because my grandmother Gallie Adel Coats made us go to Baptist church every single Sunday if you grew up at that time you know what I’m talking about. Since I was with my grandmother a lot this was the routine for all six of us. Not only did we have to be at church but we had to learn something while there and you better put the money in the collection plate too when it came around, I knew I was not there to learn anything I didn’t want to be there all I wanted while there was to go to sleep but these people wouldn’t be quiet enough for that. Church was not on my things to do list it was my grandmothers list and like it or not I was on her list. She always told me I can sing and I should sing for the church she said, In my mind I was having nothing to do with that as soon as I get old enough I would be out of here dude I thought to myself, I said it to myself because you couldn’t talk back to them in a disrespectful way. I want to take a moment to say. I loved being with my grandparents they made us a close nit family I wish they were here today for me to enjoy; my dad was not around so I took to my grandfather. There is just no respect for parents and grandparents today.

Anyway I wanted to listen to the singing but that was it. So my grandmother made us sing in the choir too, Mama was getting older therefore I went back to live with my mother full time. I was glad to be away from that choir, good riddance, and happy days are hear again, I am now going to sleep in every Sunday I thought and enjoy being a kid again, well to my surprise my mother found religion and oh no! I was in another youth choir believe me I hated every minute of that, now I’m singing in two choirs. I wanted to be out with my friends on Eddy St. hanging out, playing sports, singing in the gates of the projects not in some choir let alone two. But our life is shaped and molded by our experiences.

When I look back at the talented people I was growing up with I see where I got that other inner strength to succeed at whatever I do especially in music and I realize now I was always around some awesome people in music. In one of the church choir’s was Calvin Simmons I was in this choir for about five years, there was the Jr. Choir, the Youth Choir then the Adult Choir and I knew in my mind I had no plans for being there to get to any of those other choirs but as I listen to the singing I was listening to some people who could really, really sing well and make you feel that song but also I was learning how to sing in my style.

Now Calvin did some singing but mostly played the piano for all the choirs. I was impressed with Calvin because at that time I was starting to peck on the piano. Calvin later became the first black conductor for the Oakland Symphony, Calvin’s mother was the choir conductor an accomplished professional pianist in her own rights who also sang in the choir she had a opera sound to her voice and could really hit some high notes,

I really wanted to play the piano like Calvin he had real raw talent but it will be long time before there is another like Calvin Simmons. We sang all over the Bay Area meeting up with many people like Izora Williams who later was a part of the group Two Tons of Fun their family knew my grandmother very well They were the Bar family. Izora also played the piano in the other choir I was in called the Tri State choir. She reminded me of Aretha Franklin she could really sing and her father was the preacher in her church like Aretha she has a soulful voice that stood out to me even as a kid. Two Tons of Fun put out a couple of songs that hit the charts. Sly Stone was on the old K S O L radio station later he became Sly and the Family Stones. Sly would sing and play the piano on the radio live, if he made a mistake you could hear it that inspired me I said to myself I can do that. Sly’s brothers went to Poly so he was around singing and playing live a lot and best of all we were seeing them for virtually free as they were making their mark and that’s the thing about this business you have to love it because there will be a lot of times you wont get paid for your time and talent yet if you love it that wont stop you from doing it

The Grateful Dead and other heavy metal groups was in Winter Land in Frisco over on Post St, Bill Graham was booking shows every weekend in San Francisco. The Whispers were in Oakland singing and making hits, the group War was very popular out of Oakland I’m telling you there were singing groups everywhere not to mention the ones that came to town and you could see these people walking down the street when they were not performing. I remember Bobby Freeman riding around town in a shinny new cherry red car because of his hit the Swim, Roger Collins a long time friend of my dad made the hit song Foxy Little Girls in Oakland people still talk about that song today, now we are really dating ourselves if we remember those songs, my dad was a guitar player and knew Sly, I was always impressed with him when I heard or saw him play.

I talk to Rodger a while back at my dad’s funeral I told him I was singing and playing music it did not surprise him music is in your blood he said. I really enjoyed talking to Roger for those brief moments.

There were others who became professionals in their own right who inspired me in San Francisco we all knew each other personally from school and the neighborhoods.

There was Mike Norris who pitched for the Oakland As, Jerry White played for the Montreal Expos for many years and is now first base coach for the Minnesota Twins I hope Jerry becomes a coach in the major leagues, I played ball with Jerry when he first learned what a baseball bat and glove was. Phil Smith played for the Golden State Warriors; Phil was there the only year the Warriors took the championship Phil lived a block from us we played sand lot ball all the time Phil’s brothers were into sports as well. Denly Herbert now head of Dentistry at UC in San Francisco was a pretty good basketball player. Denly and I would put on a mock fight so the owner of the corner (Tom) store would break it up and give us some ice cream. Our plan worked for awhile and our punches were planned but for some reason Denly stopped telling me when to duck I wonder why? There was Albert Broussard a noted Historian we played on the football team at Poly together I was most proud of Albert when I saw him on TV as the narrator of the documentary ‘The Fillmore’ a story about where we grew up, Greer Smith long time noted lawyer in San Francisco became successful she always had a nice smile for you, Brenda Wade another class mate a very well known physiatrist all across the country. Victor Willis was with us at Poly we were all singing all over the place he had a strong voice and out going personality Victor later became the motor cycle cop in the Village People, Michael McDonald lived in the projects with us later played keyboards for the Whispers,  Michael was a shy little guy and smart in school I appreciated Michael because if you caught up with him he would take you to the shows with him and you could go back stage to see the Whispers man that was great to see how they did before a show and after they were dedicated to a good sound the same way I was I use to think. Well that’s just to name a few of those that came from San Francisco at that time if I am missing any of you I have you in mind and my point is still you can make if you try.

Tragedy struck me in the 1980s my son died at 7 years old in a drowning accident Baptiest Jorge Scott I withdrew for years into a world were some family and friends called me crazy yet they did not understand my grief. Because this all came from family and close friends it actually added to my grief I just couldn't get them to see that. I didn’t want to do anything or talk to anyone who didn’t understand what I was going through yet music was my only comfort. After a while and at my own paste it was time to move on so after all those groups and all that singing with all that practicing and getting ready for a show I decided to write music of my own and become serious about it.

I just didn’t want to sing other peoples music anymore and I just wasn’t going to do so. I knew I would never be noted as I wanted to be if I kept singing other peoples music. I always believe in the Jorge C Scott music I had in my head and that’s what I wanted to do. The problem was I was the only one that wanted to do that I can’t tell you how depressing it was at times I had music and I couldn’t get it out there. Music was changing fast so I decided to write music I thought would fit any time frame and stand the test of time. I would look at Johnny Carson, Oprah, Letterman, Leno etc. to see who were the musical guest it was always in my mind that I should be on those shows because my music was just as good and in most cases much better than the ones I saw on the shows, but I was the one at home looking at them on TV as a matter of fact Oprah why haven’t you called me? Let me hurry up with this so I can call her.

I actually always dreamed of singing with the Temptations because their roaster was changing all the time it seemed I thought someday I would get a shot.

I was like Otis Williams in a sense. I didn’t not know his story until I saw the movie about the history of the Tempts but Otis and I were doing the same thing starting singing groups over and over. In the early 1990s I joined yet another group after I said I wouldn’t do that any more it worked out well for awhile we were good and had tight harmony that anyone could enjoy I thought this again was it but that group broke up too. That was it I bought another piece of piano pick out a song got a cheap cassette put the song on tape took it to the radio station and said play this well they did, but only once and made it clear you better be glad you got that one time play. It was a very bad recording I was going all over San Francisco with hand written stick-um note paper telling people to call the radio station and ask them to play my song. Although I am promoting the songs I and producing myself I was working against myself because the recording was a bad copy. I will never forget, it came on after Marvin Gay singing Sexual Healing, when I heard my recording after a Motown great I realized how bad my copy was it was not the singing I sound ok but it was the recording that was in a open room with traffic going by outside and any other noise around me plus the bad cheap piano and not back up instruments but I did not stop there however I learned a very valuable lesson then, that is how important a good demo is, I will never, ever put out a bad demo again even if I have to flip burgers to save the money to get one I will do it. That’s why for my production company I have purchased the TASCAM 2488 24 track mixer recorder as a start with digital sound to put out a professional sounding demo even if I don’t go to another studio.

Well I became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1984 and put my career on hold for a while again although I kept writing songs and kept my head straight I took some time to learn about me yet I yearned for the stage again hearing people clapping and snapping their fingers to our harmony enjoying the sounds. I was not getting into another group though I needed the opportunity to keep writing and to do my own thing it was when I saw some people in the business who are Jehovah’s Witnesses making a living and still serving the True God Jehovah that I felt now is finally my time. People like Larry Graham, George Benson, now Prince and others. For the first time I feel my music and finished product is good enough for me to do my own thing and compete with what is out there. It was also then that I made a vow to sing write produce only good clean songs and I will not waiver. I also present myself and “A Distinguished Gentleman” not in the sense of being so proper and high and might but to distance myself from a certain look. I know that kind of stuff sales but it is about time to that good clean music sales and have a good clean show where people of all ages and genre can enjoy. Parents can leave their kids in a room alone and not worry about the music they are listen to when they are playing Jorge C Scott songs. The biography of Jorge C Scott is being written everyday of my life. I see a potential beyond what I can even imagine because my mind thinks big. I discovered it takes the same amount of energy to think of making $500.00 as it does to make $5.00 Scott Group Productions is the start of something very big and there is room for as many people who dare to dream who dare to think big. Our mind is capable of any success we want. There is no boundaries in the mind though there can be boundaries of the mind. Think Big!

When my people told me to put together my biography I was pleased to write about myself I’m just so thankful there is a handful of people who email and ask questions about me some people even ask for me to autograph my CD for them I try not to do autographs as for my beliefs it can be a form of idolatry it would be better if we just spoke a minute and you buy the CD and enjoy my work however I wanted to make the point do not give up if you have a talent or a desire never give up. When it is your time you will be ready because you would have paid the dues. I can now only work with professional and serious people in the music field that’s where I am now after 30 years, I’ve paid my dues to make such a decision. To me what I am doing will never be a job nor does it matter how much money comes from it I am finally doing what I love to do and have the time and support to do it. Through the World Wide Web I get a chance to do something else I have always wanted to do that is to introduce my music to the world write it, produce it myself and market it. The first radio station that will sell my work broadcast in all 50 states and 90 countries over the www. This is a great time for the independent I’m putting together this new CD of Jorge C Scott music while I am working on the other CD and it is great it is the best of the best which will be available in the summer. I promise you a broad range to reach everyone younger or older.

Again my success is not money value and that feels good, Scott Group GML Productions needs money to go on and be successful that’s just the nature of business, where as I don’t I am already successful to have come this far with my music and have sang and dance with some people who have shaped my path. Those that join our team will get the chance to showcase their talent as it will be presented on my website as well. We are putting together a band to do live shows featuring others as well. The Scott Group GML Production Show and Review what an event that will be you have to hear it and see it.

So keep checking this site I am in all phases of the business now. I can’t tell you my excitement things are working now and it is only the beginning. I hope there is something I have said to inspire you as others have inspired me. Follow your dreams and goals and Never Give Up no matter what your age, your income, your surroundings, what people say, you can make if you want to. They say the music business is a hard business to get into maybe that’s true for some of us but not for me I have had it hard all my life so that makes it easy for me. If you say you can’t do something I agree with you? If you tell me I can I still agree with you because in your mind they are both right and therefore I believe I can!  However you make your own choices in life. The Creator has given you the desire to Worship him, the Will to Live Forever, and a place called Earth to enjoy as your home. Don’t let a mere human spoil your dreams.  Let me sum up the secret to success. You have a choice, the choice is not limited to a select few, and the choice is there for whoever wants to make the decision. You Can Fly with the Eagles or you can scratch with the chickens; it’s all up to you and what’s between your ears. I want to continue to fly with the eagles you can too, trust me like an airplane taking off I spent a lot of energy to get off the ground but now that I am in flight I ride the air currents that’s take you along the currents in the music business which is talent and contacts

I'm making a lot of contacts now I have a lot of songs coming that I m going to share with the world, I am going to help others make it now too and that makes me happy.

Take care, I wish you much success never forget there is no True happiness without a relationship with the Creator Jehovah God.

From the deepest part of my heart to you.
