CARZILLA RECORDS perhaps more stories have been told
about vance johnsons writing than any other
contemporary american music artist besides bob dylan;
but one things for sure, he is a living contemprary folk
artist treasure who has the knack for writing
in various syles .vance learned his craft from legendary
bob dylan.Vance has three albums under his belt,
and now his fourth, 'bleeker street' folk/pop
folk/rock and just plain folk, songs about bitterness,
rebound, fun songs and songs about life in general.
In 1963, vance went to Europe where he developed
his own style and turned a new audience onto his music.
Upon returning to the UNITED STATES in 1965,
Vance found that folk music was still
in full swing and found himself playing his
songs in washington park along with the likes of Bob Dylan,
Richie Haven, PETER, PAUL AND MARY, the MONFORT BROTHERS
and quite a few others that are now legends.
He lived in GREENWICH VILLIAGE during most of the 1960s,
where he made his living playing the folk venues at the center
of the revival. In 1971, he moved to California and landed work as
a studio musician and back-up for the MOMAS AND POPAS as well as
other local groups around SAN FRANSICO, he also collaborated with
the GRATEFUL DEAD . Vance is a true folkster.
Vance is currently working on his music library.
