Gordon Munding (lead guitar, harmonica, vocals) and Bruce Jackson
(bass, vocals,
percussions) make up the duo "Blue Delta". On Down Home Blues
they are joined by a variety
of guest musicians that bring the versatility of the country based blues
of the album to life.
From the wistful vocal of ballad "I'm Comin' Home" to the rolling piano of
instrumental "Blue
Rumble", fifteen traditional and new blues tunes are further accented by
twanging slide guitar,
harmonica exclamations, and some mean pickin'. Old-style renditions are
given new life and
new songs bring back the best of the master bluesmen. Songwriter Munding's
lyrics are clear
and clean, the vocals of both singers expressive - listen to the ironic
tone in "Smoke, Smoke,
Smoke". The album insert is oversized with interesting liner notes and
an additional photo.
